Re-telling President Truman's Address

Remembering Truman's Address in Laramie Wyoming.

President Truman's address was given in 1950 at the University of Wyoming Arts & Sciences Building. This speech was a vital part of his tour of the western United States. This event is highly significant because of the small towns that were visited during his tour. This speech was not only President Truman speaking to college students but enlightening them and celebrating the West during a time of war.

To retell this event you will stand at front doors of the Arts and Sciences Building as the “place” of remembrance. This event was significant because it is fairly rare for presidents to visit towns such as Laramie and to take the time out of their schedules to speak with college students. This spot not only is the direct venue of where the event was held but it's also one of the central points of the Laramie campus where the students come and go. The students also are an impactful aspect of this event and make it what it is by attending. As people partake in this walking tour, they will stand on this “porch” of a building where knowledge is shared with the thousands of college students and represent doors to enlightenment.
